Dairy free butter?! Ummm yes please!
What is clarified butter you might ask? Clarified Butter or Ghee, is butter that has had its milk solids removed, leaving behind the pure butter oil . You still get the amazing taste of butter, but without the gut wrenching side effect that you might get if you are intolerant to dairy. My favorite thing about clarified butter is that it has a high smoke point, which means you can cook with it at high temperatures . That means you can pan sear or sauté meats and vegetables using clarified butter and it won’t turn brown and burn like regular butter.
You can purchase Ghee at the grocery store, but it can be pricey. In this video I will show you how to clarify butter using butter you already have at home.
∗ Please Note- In this video I use a whole pound of butter, which makes a lot of clarified butter. I did this so you could really see the separation between the milk solids and the butter oil. You can clarify a single-stick of butter if you like.
